How to stay healthy through a balanced diet, exercise and making good choices

Safety, how to minimise risks and basic First Aid

Different careers and making decisions for the future

The characteristics of good relationships including friendships and family relationships

Bullying, discrimination and racism, and how to deal with these

The effects of alcohol, smoking and drugs and the consequences of misusing them

In years 10 and 11 students learn about –

The world of work, applying for jobs and career choices

Managing money

Making healthy choices in relation to diet, lifestyle, drugs and alcohol

Sex and contraception in the context of marriage and stable family relationships

The responsibilities which come with being a parent

Citizenship

In years 7, 8 and 9, students learn about –

The rights and responsibilities of citizens, both as members of the school community and as citizens of the UK and the wider world

How our actions can affect other people and the environment in our local and global communities

Making a positive contribution to our community

Laws, why we have them and how they are made and enforced

Government and democracy in the UK, and other forms of government in the world

In years 10 and 11 students learn about –

Tolerance and respect for the diverse values and choices of people in our society

Different religions and their values

Making a positive contribution locally and globally
