At St Ivo School in the ICT department we follow schemes of work covering the programmes of study by adapting resources designed and produced by the National Strategy for ICT. Our aim is to enable students to work with ICT by: Finding information, Developing ideas, Communicating information and Evaluating. It includes, but is much broader than, a set of technical competences in common software applications.
Our aim is to ensure that by the end of Key Stage 3, all students can use ICT securely, creatively and independently, are confident enough to keep their skills up to date, and are able to generalise from their ICT experiences. The knowledge, skills and understanding that they need in the subject are closely intertwined and may be summed up as follows.
Topics in Year 7 ICT
Topics in Year 8 ICT
Topics in Year 9 ICT
The work in Year 9 is via extended project which cover all aspects of the programmes of study, giving students the opportunity to apply and develop their ICT skills in a variety of situations.
